As General Manager of the eBay Classifieds Group, Alessandro is responsible for the entire financial performance of the business including Product, Technology, Marketing, PR, Sales and Print, and a team of people based in more than 25 countries.

In his previous role as VP and General Manager of eBay Classifieds Group, Northern Europe, Alessandro was responsible for the Dutch business of Marktplaats and a portfolio of businesses in Denmark. Marktplaats is the largest Dutch ecommerce and horizontal classifieds site and the portfolio of Danish businesses include the leading horizontal classifieds site in Denmark and the biggest commerce website (dba.dk), the leading motors vertical website (bilbasen.dk), a pan-European car dealer inventory management system (Bilinfo), and the second most read newspaper in Denmark (Den Bla Avis).

Alessandro was responsible for managing more than 400 employees across the Dutch and Danish businesses. He put a strong focus on innovation and leveraging the potential of new technologies to reduce current market or industry inefficiencies and therefore bring sustainable benefits to consumers.

Alessandro joined eBay Italy in 2004 as head of category management and became country manager in October 2005. In his role as country manager, he led the Italian business through 5X growth and increased profitability from low double digits to 60%. In addition, he is a true revolutionary, seeing the potential of classifieds and adopting an innovative approach that resulted in eBay Italia building successful real estate and motors businesses.

Before eBay, Alessandro was at BCG where he focused on consumer goods and the retail industry. He holds a bachelors degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Turin and a masters in Economics from Oxford.
