General Manager, Classifieds Incubator Markets & Global Operations
As General Manager, Classifieds Incubator Markets & Global Ops for eBay, Chris is responsible for emerging online classifieds markets across Asia-Pacific, South America, Africa and emerging online classifieds markets in Europe. Prior to this role, Chris led eBay’s classifieds business in 6 countries in Asia-Pacific and the local classifieds business in 8 countries in Europe, with full P&L responsibility for the multimillion-dollar portfolios. Chris also directed all of the portfolio’s global mobile & technology operations.
Starting in 2007, Chris held the position of Chief Operating Officer for eBay’s local classifieds business, based out of San Jose, CA, and covering product management, engineering, and monetization for 17 countries around the globe. His first role at eBay was as the Head of Product at its Benelux Operations in 2004. There, he helped on the due diligence streams leading to acquisitions and build-outs that evolved into eBay’s classifieds business unit.
Prior to eBay, Chris was a consultant for a number of years in web commerce strategy at Razorfish and set up and ran two startups focused on Outsourced Marketing & Logistics as well as Digital Medical Patient Files.
Chris holds Masters Degrees in International Law as well as Business Administration from the University of Leiden and the Nyenrode Business School – the two top universities in their fields in the Netherlands.
